Rises of pH and exchangeable Ca and Mg were attributed to liming. Increases in the available contents of other macro- and micronutrients due to fertilization and other cultivation practices were most substantial in the topsoil but also reached the deeper soil horizons. In the cases of most nutrients the original trophy of the peat was still distinguishable after several years of cultivation.
